So today I was asked the question I've been skillfully avoiding for months, "So what's your plan...what do you want to do?" .....
But it's just one big trick, they don't actually want to know what I want for my own life; they just want me to verify that I agree to their plan --- what they have envisioned as my perfect path and product. I tell them what I want, and all they have to say is that's unrealistic or impossible for the job market. I know archaeology is a long shot but it is possible. If I am just able to find a window into the field it is a chance to not only travel the world observing cultures of all types, but a chance to actually love what I get paid to do; not dreading waking up everyday to my same mediocre cubical. Nothings impossible, some things just take more hard work and dedication.
Isn't it more realistic to pursue a job that not every other suburban child is being told to follow; there can only be so many lawyers, so many doctors, so many "business men" before we just start categorizing them as the depressed and unsatisfied. I just want to be happy in life and enjoy living --- want to work, not have to --- and I guess I just don't see the negatives in that.
